Understanding FOB (Free On Board)
Under FOB Incoterms, the seller is legally responsible for all costs, risks, and export formalities until the goods are physically loaded onto the shipping vessel at the designated port of shipment. Once the cargo "crosses the ship's rail," the risk and further costs (ocean freight, insurance, import duties) transfer to the buyer.
