Standard Pallet Size & Dimensions

Global reference for Euro, ISO, US, and Australian pallet standards for efficient cargo loading.

Pallets are the fundamental logistics platform used for gathering, stacking, and transporting goods as a single unit load. Typically constructed from wood or high-density plastic, pallets provide a stable base that can be easily handled by forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated systems.

In international trade, using standardized pallet dimensions is critical for space optimization. Properly sized pallets reduce cargo movement in transit, minimize damage risks, and allow for precise calculation of how many units can be safely stowed in standard shipping containers. Regional variations exist to accommodate different warehouse designs and transport infrastructure across the globe.

Regional Standards

Note: Dimensions shown in Millimeters (mm) and Inches (in).

Europe (Euro Pallet)

The standard pallet in Europe, also known as the EUR- pallet or EPAL. Designed for optimal fit in European rail and road transport.

Dimensions 1200 mm x 800 mm (47.24 in x 31.50 in)

ISO Standard

Standardized by the ISO for international trade transit between different regional infrastructures.

Dimensions 1200 mm x 1000 mm (47.24 in x 39.37 in)

North America

The GND standard widely used in the United States and Canada, particularly in grocery and retail industries.

Dimensions 1219 mm x 1016 mm (48.00 in x 40.00 in)

Australia

Specific standard designed to fit perfectly in Australian railway wagons and chemical industry transport.

Dimensions 1165 mm x 1165 mm (45.87 in x 45.87 in)

How Many Pallets Fit in Containers?
