High-capacity specialized equipment for large-scale top-loading project cargo.

Exploring the 40' Open Top Container

The 40-foot Open Top (40OT) container is the industry standard for transporting oversized or high-volume industrial assets that cannot be fitted into a standard 40-foot dry van. By replacing the rigid steel roof with a heavy-duty, weather-resistant tarpaulin, these units allow for seamless vertical loading via overhead cranes or port portal cranes. They are essential for shipping large industrial components, boilers, complex machinery, and out-of-gauge construction materials.

Functionality is at the core of the 40OT design, featuring removable roof bows and a hinged door header that rotates to accommodate tall items being crane-lifted into the unit. While the 40OT is significantly more expensive to book than standard units—partly due to the "lost" space on top which prevents stacking other containers—it provides the critical flexibility required for project logistics. It ensures that massive, high-value components reach their destination securely, protected by TIR-compliant lashing systems and professional-grade security seals.
