What is a 40' High Cube Container?
The 40-foot High Cube (40HC) container is the preferred choice for modern global supply chains
dealing with lightweight, bulky goods. It offers approximately 30 centimeters (one foot) of
additional internal height compared to standard 40-foot units, providing a significant boost in
total cubic capacity (reaching 76m³).
This "High Cube" design is critical for maximizing container utilization when shipping
furniture, garments on hangers, consumer electronics, or toys. By allowing for higher stacking
of pallets and better accommodation of tall oversized items, the 40HC reduces the
cost-per-cubic-meter for voluminous freight. It is recognized globally and is fully compatible
with intermodal road, rail, and sea distribution networks.
