20' Bulk Container
Specialized equipment for efficient transport of loose, granular, or powdered dry cargo.
Defining the 20' Bulk Container
The 20-foot Bulk container is a highly specialized variant designed for the automated transport
and handling of loose dry commodities like grains, malt, animal feed, powders, and plastic
pellets. Externally similar to a standard dry van, the bulk unit features three circular loading
hatches (approx. 50cm diameter) in the roof and two discharge valves integrated into the door or
front wall. This design eliminates the need for expensive bagging or individual packaging,
allowing commodities to be "poured" directly into the unit.
Internally, bulk containers often feature reinforced wall structures and smooth-surface liners
to prevent cargo from sticking during discharge. By utilizing the entire interior volume for
loose items, they provide exceptional scale and cost efficiency for agribusiness and chemical
industries. Gravity loading through the roof hatches and pneumatic or gravity-based discharge
ensures rapid terminal handling and reduced labor costs. For shippers focused on large-volume
granular commodities, the 20' bulk container is the gold standard for secure, contamination-free
international transport.
