Understanding the SLI

What is an SLI?

A legal document where the exporter gives specific instructions to the freight forwarder on how to handle the shipment and file export declarations (like AES).

Legal Protection

It acts as a limited power of attorney, authorizing the forwarder to sign documents and act on behalf of the exporter for a specific shipment.

Key Requirements

Must include full consignee details, accurate commodity descriptions (Schedule B codes), and clear instructions on freight charges and insurance.
